Hours: 1 full term position (September 2008 – June 2008)

Qualifications:
  • Early Childhood Development certificate or experience and willingness to work with children in the field of education or willingness to obtain the certificate
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Ability to operate computer
  • Understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal Headstart
  • A valid First Aid certificate
  • Valid food safe level 1
  • Updated immunizations
  • must enjoy working with young children, be sensitive to the needs of the children and their families and be willing to fulfil the responsibilities set out by the coordinator
  • Security clearance - LFN Personnel Policy applies.


  • Duties:
  • This position shall aid in the planning, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate child pre-school activities and experiences within Health Canada’s Aboriginal Head Start (AHS) Program and in accordance with Yukon Family Child Care Program Standards. More specifically, this position shall be required to perform the following duties:
  • The assisted annual planning and adjusted delivery of AHS Program pre-school curriculum and services
  • Assisting in the delivery of AHS program curriculum lesson plans to children in support of their spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical growth
  • The adjusted delivery of AHS Pre-school curriculum in accordance with the special development needs of each child
  • The guidance of child behaviors in support of positive social interaction and self-concept
  • The assurance of a safe and healthy play and learning environment for the children
  • The fostering of positive and constructive communication with parents
  • The contribution to the on-going operations of AHS Pre-school through the performance of other related duties
  • Maintain confidential student files and family sensitive issues
