Qualifications:
- Good knowledge of Violence against Woman & Children
- Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Good knowledge of community agencies and resources related to family violence
- Good written and oral skills - excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work effectively in high pressure situations
- Must be highly organized with excellent multi-tasking abilities
- Good research skills
- Experience working in office setting
- Good knowledge of proposal writing, policies and procedures
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or WordPerfect, and Simply Accounting software packages
- Ability to handle highly confidential business and client information
- Must be able to understand, respect, and maintain confidentiality at all times in all type situations
- Experience in a supportive, nonjudgmental, stressful atmosphere
- Ability to respond effectively to crisis calls and situations
- Proven peer counseling skills
- Able to work in a team environment to set priorities, deliver services and organize tasks with other staff members
- Must be willing and able to acquire and maintain current certification of First Aid and CPR and to participate in other essential training sessions and staff meetings as required
- Must have a valid driver's license and a vehicle
Duties:
- Provide administrative support
- Perform bookkeeping tasks
- Process incoming and outgoing mail
- Assist in Transition home programming and fundraising coordination and implementation
- Design and edit promotional material, literature, and agency forms, brochures, cards, and ads as directed
- Respond to telephone enquiries or forward to the appropriate person
- Prepare reports, proposals, applications and other documents as required
- Assist in providing support and services to clients
- Perform other office related duties as directed
- Assist in implementing and supervision in agency guidelines and procedures
