Title: Fire Crewmember (4 month seasonal auxiliary positions- Anticipatory Staffing for various locations including Whitehorse)

Wage: $21.35 to $24.50 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively and safely in a team environment; demonstrate strong interpersonal skills; have the ability to recognize hazardous situations and take corrective actions; the ability to operate and maintain firefighting equipment and the ability to take initiative, exercise good judgment and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
- Considerable experience living and working in a field camp environment
- Experience operating and maintaining tools and small engines, power saws, pumps, etc.
- Experience or training in forest fire fighting operation preferable
- Completion of EFF/S-100 course preferable.
- Medical clearance
- Valid Yukon Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent)
- Pass Initial Attack fitness test
- Obtain Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR "C" Level certification and Land/Air Radio Operators Certificate within first 3 months
- Successful completion of the Yukon Crew Member Initial Attack course or equivalent Wildfire Agency Crew Member training at the next scheduled session.
- The ability to work and live in remote locations under rudimentary conditions for extended periods of time as well as willingness to travel in helicopters and small fixed-wing aircraft is a requirement of this position.
- At Wildland Fire management, our priority is to protect life, property and resources in a safe, professional and effective manner. Reporting to the Fire Crew leader, the incumbent is a member of an elite crew that is responsible for conducting rapid Initial Attack operations on wildfires and sustained action on campaign fires in the zone and throughout the Yukon and maintains fire equipment in a state of readiness during the fire season. During low fire hazard crewmembers perform grounds maintenance, repair of buildings and equipment, fire smart projects and other related duties as required.
