Qualifications:
  • Mimimum post secondary education preferred
  • Experience and/or training in environmental field work, data colelction, and management
  • Experience and/or training working in an outdoor environment and/or remote camp setting
  • Experience and/or training with fish and fish habitat studies will be an asset
  • Works well as a team member and can work well independently with minimum supervision
  • Experience in leadership role and/or supervising junior team members
  • Experience and/or training with computer programs such as MS Word and excel
  • Good interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and time management skills are required
  • Asset competencies include motivation, initiative, and attention to detail
  • A good level of physical fitness is required for this position as most work is field based
Duties:
  • Leading and participating in field work for environmental related activites and programs such as water quality, hydrology, hydrogeology, fisheries and climate studies
  • Supervising and providing guidance to junior environmental technicians on the same field rotation
  • Ensuring the accuracy and quality of field data collection, sample collection and preparation, data entry and management, devlopment of data reports, and other related tasks
  • Providing a leadership role on environment related matters to the team and contractors
  • Coordinating the ordering and shipment of supplies, equipment, and samples
  • Assisting with reclamation of roads, trails, drill sites, and monitoring of reclamation sites
  • Contributing to activities as a member of the feild team and camp crew as required
