The Community Action Plan for Children assists children who have witnessed abuse or been abused to problem solve, deal with anger, learn social skills, and build self-esteem. The program is funded by Health Canada and operates under the Help and Hope for Families Society umbrella. The Facilitator will work in collaboration with Aboriginal Headstart, Child Development Centre, Day Care, Day Homes, and the Public Schools.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in the field of Psychology, have ECE or are enrolled in ECE.
- Work in the areas of Domestic Violence, F.A.S.D / F.A.E. is an asset.
- Successful applicant must possess a valid Driver's License and have their own vehicle.
- Ability to work cross culturally and a willingness to travel is essential.
- In order to be considered, applications must include a cover letter and resume outlining experience and qualifications relative to this position.
Duties:
- Working with children who have witnessed abuse or been abused.
- Doing both group and individual work with clients.
- Working with children ages 0-6.
- Doing program planning and development.
- Able to do play / art therapy.
- Helping children with self-esteem building and communicating emotions.
- Continuing ongoing individual and family support.
- Maintaining individual client records and confidentiality.
- Excellent in oral and written skills.
- Writing communications and submitting quarterly reports to the Society and Health Canada.
- Able to do public education and program promotion within the community.
- Willing to do other duties related to this position as assigned by the Executive Director.
