Wage: These positions are at a LO8 level pay rate of $29.73 to $37.62 per hour.
Hours: Regular Part Time Positions - .75 FTE (56.25 hours bi-weekly). Please note that this position requires the ability to work 7 days per week, including statutory holidays.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with Yukon First Nations people and graduation from an acceptable social service or healthcare program (4 years). Or an equivalent mixture of education and extensive related working experience.
- Excellent knowledge of culture, traditions, social history and economic conditions of Yukon First Nations.
- Good knowledge of trends and developments in social service field with particular emphasis on First Nation requirements
- Knowledge of Yukon Social Service and Healthcare systems
- Strong counseling skills
- Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
- Strong analytical skills
- Good interpersonal skills for consensus building and problem solving.
- Ability to plan and develop culturally relevant health counseling and support programs for First Nations people and healthcare providers
- Initiative to self-direct and maintain program delivery.
- Flexibility and good judgment
- Reliability
Duties:
- Reporting to the Facility Administrator, the incumbent participates in patient care, planning, counseling and support to patients and their families. In addition, plans and develops culturally relevant health counseling and support programs for First Nation, Inuit and Metis patients; facilitates the provision of Traditional Food and assists patient access to Traditional Medicine and healing methods. Acts as a consumer advocate for First Nation people using the health care system when dealing with First Nation, community, Territorial, Provincial, and Federal agencies. The incumbent also assists with the planning and provision of culturally relevant training and support for healthcare providers to ensure quality and culturally sensitive healthcare.
